Set the record straight!
by Colinconfused ini would like to state publicly, on this forum, i no longer hold the views i had a year ago.. with much thought, research, study and logical examination i have come to a better understanding of my beliefs and where i stand on all these issues.. i'm very happy to announce i have returned to healthful teaching of the holy scriptures and i firmly believe that the governing body of jehovah's witnesses is the faithful slave.. sorry if i have contibuted to any kind of stumbling and know that if i can turn things around then there's hope for all who come to there sence.. phill4:6,7.

Beautiful website!Very familiar to a JW also.
Some of the problems in the pictures were shown to me while I was still in. But because they seemed far-fetched I would dismiss them.
My idea: stick to the obvious ones! Then it would sent a stronger message.
Don't you think some pictures are really a coIncedence? I do, because many brothers and sisters who work at Bethel are sincerely doing their work, even though they don't have a clue about what strange organisation they are working for.

Ritualistic behaviour within the JW faith
by stuckinarut2 ini was thinking about how the society criticises other faiths such as catholics because of their ritualistic procedures.. but couldn't it be said that witnesses have their own deeply ritualistic behaviours?.
think about the prayers said at meetings.
they all have to follow the same basic style and theme, and include the same basic content.. what about the ritualistic procedures of the memorial, and the passing of emblems - even to the servers and speaker (although they actually handle them more than everyone, they do their own special act of passing them to each other).

Praying with closed eyes. "Good" brothers and sisters are not supposed to look around them during prayer.

The chorus that we now have at special meetings. Do they really want to look like the other churches?

Let's all play a game! What does this passage of the Bible tell us about Jehovah?
by stuckinarut2 inlets play a fun game?.
we all know that as witnesses, we were constantly told to read the bible, and ask ourselves what the passage we read reveals about god.. as an example, here is a wt that highlights this.. may 2016 wt study edition "benefit fully from jehovah's provisions".
8 ask questions.

Read 1 Samuel 4:1-10
Over 30000 brothers were killed in battle. They had apparently listened to those "taking the lead" and went to battle although the "ark of the covenant" was not at the right place. So Jehovah had probably wanted them to disobey those brothers.
What does this tell me about Jehovah? That it is really hard to know what he wants from you, if you listen to the ones in charge. That he allows women to be widows and children to be fatherless boys so we have many of those to care for.
How can I apply this information in my life? Jehovah wants me to disobey the "slave" when they go against him or I will get killed!
How can I use it to help others? It might be helpful to see the ttatt. One elder I confronted with this passage in the Bible and he actually seemed to get it.

Revised bible in Dutch
by Rather Be the Hammer inwe had a special talk (streaming) today from g. jackson, announcing the new revised bible in dutch.
there are many many changes, even some of the the dutch 'jw-language' will change because bible verses changed.
also brother jackson admitted (be it in a joking way ) that whole talks in the past (until now) had been based on wrong translated bible verses.

It is a hot day in Holland, and you are already writing about the big event
In our congregation, we got the Bible directly after brother Jackson mentioned it, while all the other congregations still had to wait. A mistake of an old MS.
Anyone from Belgium or Surinam on this forum?

Outraged After Watching The May 2017 Broadcast
by pale.emperor inok, so i've just put myself through another months broadcast so i can see what bull they're feeding my still in relatives.
all was going fine... well, i say fine, i mean the usual cheesy videos, rehearsed reactions from jeffrey jackson (you remember him, the one who told half truths and lies at the royal commission) and propaganda from jw land.. the last feature brings up 9/11 and the paris 2015 attack at the bataclan.
just as im thinking "how are they gonna spin this in their direction" i hear these words:.

Why did Bethel elders have to visit the couple in Paris, just because they lived close to the Bataclan theater?! Apart from that, they did not have any problem at all (trauma, yes). Look what stuff other brothers and sisters have to face. For these ones the local elders have to care, if they do. Double standards!

@objavitelj Wouldn't it be wise not to mention such info? We all like the leaks to continue.

Do religious people fear that their religion may be wrong???
by James Mixon inbecause there are so many religions in the world and it is obvious that no matter what the truth is, a large population of people will be wrong about it.
we at one time believe we had the truth and 99% of the world population were in darkness, but i wonder about folks in other religions today.
speaking with a christian friend about this and he told me," that's for god to decide, i hope i'am serving god"...the sad thing about all of this if one die and still believe in his religion, he will never know he was in the wrong religion.

Interesting to find Cold Steel in the discussion here. In the Netherlands I had a few discussions with mormons in the field service, and I was always surprised by their strong beliefs. So different from the catholics or protestants that we met, who actually were not really convinced.
Later I approached the missionaries on the street, just to know what convinced them they were the true religion. I asked them how they dealt for themselves with the contradictions in the beliefs of their religion (I mentioned a few). The answer was not dealing with the contraditions, but rather explaining how the Holy Spirit had revealed it to them, when they prayed about it. Of course the answer didn't satisfy me. I was a believing JW at the time, but it made me think about my own beliefs.
Talking to some elders in our congregation I notice a similar reaction. They just ignore the problematic issues in the Bible and the teachings and continue to emphasize other reasons that make sense to them.

No Bethel in Namibia, so I guess this is about the RTO Regional Translation Office.
